Kairos Continues Search for Permanent High School Location

St. Louis, MO – Kairos Academies announced today that it will not acquire a property it was considering for a permanent high school location. The proposed site was located at Miami Street and South Broadway in the Marine Villa neighborhood. Kairos had been in negotiations with the Teamsters since the fall; those negotiations ended this week with both parties deciding not to proceed.

Kairos is moving forward with other options to accommodate its growing student body.

“While this turn in negotiations is unfortunate, we remain steadfast in fulfilling our charter agreement and providing the facilities and experience our students deserve,” said Dr. Khalil Graham, CEO of Kairos Academies.

The site was among multiple locations under consideration by Kairos.

Kairos Academies operates both a middle and high school at its location at 2315 Miami Street. Together its schools currently serve 430 students. Once fully enrolled, Kairos Academies High School will be able to serve up to 600 students. Enrollment in grades 9-10, at 130 students each, are already at capacity for the 2023-24 school year and indicate strong community demand for a personalized learning public high school.

“We promised our families and our sponsor that we would provide a first-class educational experience for students in grades 5-12. Many of our high school students have been with us since we opened in 2019. Creating a dedicated space just for grades 9-12 is a continuation of our existing program and will fulfill our promise to our families,” said Dr. Graham.

Kairos Academies is a public charter school authorized to serve grades 5-12 in South St. Louis city. Kairos employs a wholly unique learning model–combining personalized, project-based learning; one-on-one mentors for each student; an intentionally diverse student body and staff; and a restorative approach to student discipline and community building.
